In 1957, Drissa McQuar Yilla graduated with an MBChB degree from University of Glasgow. After graduating he returned to Sierra Leone, to serve his people. As an entrepreneur and philanthropist he founded the medical practice now established as the Kindoya Hospital where he served for over 20 years.
Dr. Momodu Bah Yilla graduated from Leningrad University and did his postgraduate medicine in London in the 1970s. Because of his transformative vision, a small community clinic was transformed into what is now known as the Kindoya Hospital. He was the quintessential medical doctor, public servant, and humanitarian champion who propagated a huge charitable spirit in the provision of care to his community for over 40 years.
Mohamed trained in Pharmacology before studying medicine in Aberdeen Scotland. He returned to Sierra Leone after working in the UK to continue the family tradition of serving the medical needs of the community.
As a student, Mohamed began to mobilise resources for Kindoya and has rebuilt and improved the existing facility to execute his vision of taking the hospital to the next level of excellence.
On returning to Sierra Leone Mohamed led donor-funded Projects that worked on health facility strengthening and quality improvement across the country.
During the Ebola outbreak, Mohamed led award-winning laboratory capacity strengthening support to the national Ebola Response and Ministry of Health.
Now at Kindoya, he Is constantly working to introduce training, higher standards, innovation and galvanising support to improve our convergence to excellence and expand access to quality health services for our people in Bo and surrounding communities.
